KXL to Use Drone for News Coverage

Alpha Media Portland station partners with Aerial Technology International

The heck with traffic copters, drones are now the new thing for news coverage and other live events.

Alpha Media’s news/talk KXL(FM) in Portland, Ore., has partnered with a local drone company to use the device to cover news as well as for promotional purposes.

Alpha Media EVP/Programming Scott Mahalick says it’s the first radio drone.

Along with Alpha, “we intend to bring a whole new perspective to breaking news and live events,” says Aerial Technology International Co-Founder/Co-Owner Stephen Burtt.

Founded in 2012, ATI sells and repairs drones for various uses, such as agriculture, e.g. farmers can use drones to quickly determine which crops need to be irrigated or treated for disease.
