KZIA Gets Its Boston Acoustics Shipment

Iowa’s KZIA(FM) morning drive jock Johnny Waiver went to Boston Acoustics’ headquarters outside Boston to take delivery of 20 tabletop HD Radios, the supplier said.
The new Boston Acoustics Recepter HD receives multicast signals in addition to mainstream IBOC signals. Some of the radios will go to station staff, but most will be used as giveaways.
The independently owned Cedar Rapids station plans to launch a supplemental digital channel in January.
“KZIA’s decision to travel halfway across the country to pick up the radios in person is an indication of the momentum building for this format, and of the major marketing resources we expect to see radio stations apply to build consumer awareness,” said David Kroll, Boston Acoustics director of product development.
