L.A. remains radio’s top-earning market.
The Southern California Broadcasters Association says revenue topped $1 billion again, and that 2006 was the second biggest in the medium’s history there.
Combined sales of Los Angeles stations amounted to $1.06 billion, approximately 2.2% off its record, it stated. “Additionally, L.A. radio’s share of the media mix grew dramatically among the top 10 advertisers, going from 20% two years ago to 27.6% last year with advertisers in the ‘Professional Services’ category leading the way.” It said that category includes equipment rentals, travel agencies, legal services, accounting services and dry cleaners.
