Labor Group Links Sirius With Conditions at Korean Plant

Protests at Sirius HQ and hopes to engage Howard Stern in its cause.

The National Labor Committee says workers making Sirius products at a Kiryung Electronics plant in South Korea face harsh conditions.

The NLC protested outside Sirius New York headquarters this week and sent a letter to Howard Stern including allegations that women workers must work long hours for below-subsistence wages, and have been attacked and beaten when they asked for their legal rights.

The group is hoping to enlist Stern in their cause, noting his previous “lampooning” of Kathie Lee Gifford over the exploitation of child workers in Honduras who sewed her clothing line, according to the letter signed by NLC Director Charles Kernaghan.

Sirius has not commented on the allegations.
