Alleged studio-to-transmitter link violations garnered nearly $70,000 in fines for Mount Rushmore Broadcasting in Wyoming.
Mt. Rushmore is the licensee of Casper FMs KASS, KHOC, KQLT, KMLD, and Station WLP722.
An inspection last August revealed the commission had no paperwork for any of the STLs associated with these stations, according to the FCC. Some of the links had been operating since 1995 and others since “late 2001 or early 2002,” says Mt. Rushmore when KMLD moved its main studio. The commission also said an STL for KMLD was operating in the wrong location.
The licensee has since filed paperwork to authorize the STLs.
But in the meantime, the broadcaster faces a total of $68,000 in penalties.
Mt. Rushmore has 30 days to appeal or pay the fine and also the same amount of time to submit a sworn statement testifying that it has come into compliance with the STL licensing requirements.
