Lawo Boosts Console Capabilities

A key enhancement is the Sig80 DSP card mode, with which zirkon systems can support an additional 40 DSP channels with EQ, dynamics and limiting provided by the use of a second masterboard.

German console and routing technology firm Lawo has released the Version 2.8 upgrade for its zirkon on-air consoles.

A key enhancement is the Sig80 DSP card mode, with which zirkon systems can support an additional 40 DSP channels with EQ, dynamics and limiting provided by the use of a second masterboard.

V2.8 firmware also features a change in the transmission method used for VisTool metering data. Lawo has moved from transmission control protocol (TCP) to user datagram protocol (UDP), which has enabled faster metering response and greater compatibility in networked environments.

Lawo also now offers new VisTool touch-screen visualization software that provides faster, more responsive metering in networked environments and also adds surround parameter keys in screen parameters. As a result, surround panning is now accessible via VisTool buttons.

With the VisTool software upgrade, users can display 24 channels simultaneously and can set the colors used for EQ parameters and markers

Also available from Lawo is new plug-in integration for third-generation mc²66 and mc²90 production consoles. The Lawo Plug-in Server accepts all VST-type audio processing plug-ins without any modification.

“I am convinced users of our mixing consoles will find this a huge leap toward improving the quality of live mixes, and all this with confident handling,” said Lawo Product Manager Felix Krückels.
