Magnum Buys Bliss Stations

Southern California Public Radio completes Ojai purchase

Bliss Communications, a long-time player in southeastern Wisconsin publishing and radio broadcasting, has reached a deal with radio/TV broadcaster Magnum Broadcasting of Tomah, Wis., to part with stations in Racine, Wis., and West Bend, Wis.

Bliss Communications President Sidney H. “Skip” Bliss said, “These stations have been an important part of Bliss Communications for 17 years in Racine and 43 years in West Bend … However, this sale represented an opportunity for me to pass the ownership of these great radio stations on to another Wisconsin broadcasting family.”

The stations involved are WRJN(AM) and WEZY(FM) in Racine and WBKV(AM) and WBWI(FM) in West Bend. Bliss has owned the West Bend stations for over 40 years. WRJN first went on the air in 1926.

Bob Heymann of Media Services Group handled the sale.

In other news from MSG, Southern California Public Radio continued its acquisitions by finalizing a deal with Logos Broadcasting Corp. for KLFH(FM), Ojai, Calif. The price was $800,000. Jody McCoy of MSG’s Colorado Springs, Colo., office was the broker.
