Martikainen to Give Heyser Lecture at AES

Genelec founder to talk about speaker technology and where it could go

Monitor maker Genelec founder and chairman Dr. Ilpo Martikainen has been selected to give the Richard C. Heyser Memorial Lecture at the 138th AES International Convention in Warsaw, Poland. Martikainen will give his speech on history and future role of professional monitoring systems.

Established in May 1999, the Richard C. Heyser Memorial Lecture brings prominent figures in the field of audio engineering to speak before an AES audience.

Martikainen’s lecture, “Monitoring Loudspeakers: Can They Be Truthful Quality Control Tools?,” will look at the technical means of monitoring speakers as a truthful acoustical presentation since the 1940s in different parts of the world and whether the evolution has converged toward solutions giving sustainable value to the industry, according to a release.

Martikainen founded Genelec in 1978. He remains chairman.

“Dr. Martikainen’s name is known throughout the industry for bringing high-quality monitoring to many sectors of the audio business, and we look forward to hearing his presentation,” said Bozena Kostek and Umberto Zanghieri, co-chairs of the 138th AES Convention.

The 138th AES International Convention will take place from May 7–10.
