Martin Appoints New General Counsel

FCC Chairman Kevin Martin named Matthew Berry as general counsel; he replaces Sam Feder.

Berry had been deputy general counsel. Before joining the agency, he served as counselor to the assistant attorney general for the Office of Legal Policy in the Justice Department, where he earned an award for providing legal advice related to counter-terrorism policy, according to the commission.

Martin also announced that Ajit Pai will serve as deputy general counsel; he had been associate general counsel. Before joining the commission, Pai served as chief counsel of the Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on the Constitution.
