Wink Martindale, who was multiplatform before digital made it cool, received a Hollywood F.A.M.E. for Lifetime Achievement Producer/Host last month.
Martindale got his start in radio, first in small-town Jackson, Tenn., then to Memphis, Tenn. (DJ and TV host) and then the big time — the 1960s in Los Angeles, where he was a top DJ. He also had a few hit records of his own along the way.
Martindale made the move to television becoming a well-known game show host for numerous game shows for decades — “Gambit,” “Tic-Tac-Dough,” “Bumper Stumpers” being just a few.
He has returned to his radio roots, hosting Envision Radio Networks-syndicated “The 100 Greatest Christmas Hits of All Time.”
A release explains, “The Hollywood F.A.M.E. Awards celebrate and honor Film, Art, Music and Entertainment by recognizing outstanding contributors from those fields.” Martindale was also game show producer.
