May 1 Was Not Silent

The “Day of Silence” was not exactly quiet. May 1, when many Internet radio broadcasters staged a protest against proposed royalties, was the third-busiest day of that week for stations measured by research firm MeasureCast, based on the number of hours streamed.
The most people of the week listened on May 2, the day after the protest. MeasureCast said first place on its weekly Top 25 chart was London-based JazzFM, which edged out Virgin Radio. Internet Radio Inc. station ChoiceRadio Classical debuted in the top 25; that chart now has five classical music stations.
