The Museum of Broadcast Communications says it has been awarded a $40,000 grant from The Chicago Community Trust.
The money will help create a Chicago Connection exhibit, which will explore the city’s radio and television history. The exhibit will greet visitors upon entering the new MBC when it opens in 2007.
The four-level, 70,000-square-foot broadcast museum is to include two expansive floors of interactive exhibits and dynamic studio experiences. Key exhibits focus on eight programming genres: comedy, drama, music-variety, news, sports, talk, games-reality and children.
In 2004, the Trust made an initial $100,000 gift to the MBC Capital Campaign.
“The MBC’s expansion project will enhance the Museum’s ability to serve a larger and more diverse public by creating a significant media museum for metropolitan Chicago,” said Terry Mazany, president and CEO of the Trust.
