The Maldives Broadcasting Commission, in association with the Commonwealth Educational Media Center for Asia, hosted the National Consultation on Community Media back in February where they revealed their plan to initiate community broadcasting across the atolls and islands of the Maldives.
Officers and executives from both the MBC and the CEMCA were on hand to discuss the state of the media in the Maldives during the meetings as well as offered interactive sessions, “Why Community Media in Maldives” and
“Community Radio in South Asia – Status and Challenges.” Many representatives from government and non-government organizations were also on hand.
The National Consultation on Community Media was held on February 5 in Malé, Maldives.
