McCartney Teams Up With Sirius XM

Band on the Run becomes band in space; party planned for 20 millionth satellite subscriber too

Paul McCartney will be a major component of Sirius XM satellite radio programming for most of December.

The music legend will be the centerpiece of a month-long special channel of McCartney-centered music, “Paul McCartney’s Band on the Run Radio.” The station will start on Nov. 29 at 3 p.m. and run to 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 26. All Paul, all the time.

Nominally, the “station” is in celebration of a reissuing (and remastering) of McCartney’s “Band on the Run” album. The channel also will feature newly discovered material.

McCartney also will perform at a Sirius XM-exclusive/by-invitation-only concert at the Apollo Theater in New York on Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. That too will air on Sirius XM, and the concert is expected to celebrate Sirius XM’s 20 millionth subscriber.

President and Chief Content Officer for Sirius XM Radio Scott Greenstein stated: “Sir Paul’s performance at the Apollo Theater is our way of thanking our subscribers.”
