Broadcasting Board of Governors board member Susan McCue is resigning her position to take up another board position — with the Millennium Challenge Corp., another U.S. governmental agency. She issued a letter of resignation on May 22.
The move is effective immediately. McCue has been on the BBG board since July, 2010. Her term expired Aug. 13, 2011 so she was serving until her replacement was nominated and confirmed.
Previous to that McCue founded or worked for several advocacy and nonprofit groups. She was also chief of staff for Sen. Harry Reid, 1999–2007.
BBG Chairman Jeff Shell said, “She has been a tireless supporter of press freedom and a clear-eyed leader in helping shape U.S. international media today and into the future. While we knew the day would come when she would devote her time to the Millennium Challenge Corp., she will be sorely missed.”
