MediaBay Offers Radio Bits Via Ringtone Service

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a phone call!
A digital media company and a wireless application developer entered into an agreement whereby content from the former’s classic radio show library is offered through the latter’s Ringtalker ringtone service. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The deal between MediaBay and dotPhoto allows users to select ringtone audio clips from 50,000 hours of radio programs such as “Abbott and Costello,” “The Jack Benny Show” and others.
The ringtones will compliment phrases and sounds already offered through Ringtalker, available to phones with carriers including Alltel, nTelos, Verizon and Midwest Wireless.
Some snippets include Superman’s “It’s a bird, it’s a plane”; the intro to “The Inner Sanctum”; and Richard Diamond’s whistle. The company also offers content via Radio Spirits, a seller of OTR shows on cassette and CD, and Radio Classics, which distributes MediaBay’s content via various media.
