Mediagroup Provides Games Sound

Several Chinese public-service broadcasters, including national station CCTV and regional channel Hunan Economic TV, will carry Stagetec systems in their OB vehicles, as will Italian public broadcaster Radiotelevisione Italiana (RAI).

Audio systems from Salzbrenner Stagetec Mediagroup are playing a behind-the-scenes role at the 2008 Olympic Games.

The company supplied two Aurus desks as a permanent installation in the central control room at the 90,000-seat Beijing Grand National Stadium.

A Nexus network will then carry audio to a sound-reinforcement system comprising 220 line arrays. The system will also deliver audio content via MADI lines to the International Broadcast Center (IBC) and an estimated 60 OB trucks.

The Aurus desks installed at the stadium are a 40-fader master console and a smaller eight-fader slave console. The Nexus audio network features eight base devices and a Nexus Star. The configuration supports a variety of formats and allows the full use of Nexus internal audio processing features.

Early March, CCTV also equipped control rooms at its new main broadcasting center in Beijing with Salzbrenner Stagetec Mediagroup solutions, specifically three Auratus XL consoles and a Nexus network.
