Merritt Joins CPB

Kathy Merritt has joined the Corporation for Public Broadcasting as senior manager of program investments in the radio department. Merritt will work with stations to develop public radio programming.
Merritt, a former Radio World contributor, comes to CPB with 25 years of public radio experience. After 13 years at WFAE(FM) in Charlotte, N.C. she joined WAMU(FM), Washington as news director and rose to station manager. Merritt led WAMU’s transition to a news/talk format on weekdays and oversaw the launch of a Web-based bluegrass music service, BluegrassCountry.org.
She joined the Station Resource Group as director of public media strategies in 2002.
Most recently, she has been interim general manager of KBPS(FM), Portland, where she guided its transition from an institutional to a community licensee.
