Mexican Broadcast Group Honors Engineers

AMITRA convention recognizes, celebrates excellence in field

AMITRA, the Mexican professional broadcast engineers association, held a convention recently in Acapulco to recognize outstanding people in their field.

Its Engineer of the Year award was presented to Leonardo Dircio of Ultravision in Puebla, Mexico.

The award “recognizes meritorious work in broadcast and communications engineering.” Dircio was celebrated for his many years as a radio engineer. The award includes an honorarium from LBA Technology and a paid trip to next year’s AMITRA convention.

This year’s gathering marks the group’s ninth year of honoring their own.

The award is sponsored by LBA Technology Inc. and was conceived by LBA account executive Javier Castillo.

The event also honored LBA employee Sergio Rojano, the company’s first representative to Mexico 25 years ago. A letter addressed to Rojano from company CEO Lawrence Behr was read aloud, and a cup presented bearing the inscription, “Thank you for opening the door to Mexico.”
