Microspace Satellite Service to Distribute HD Radio Data Services

Ibiquity Digital and Capitol Broadcasting-owned Microspace Communications Corp., a business satellite broadcasting network operator, have a deal to integrate HD Radio data services into Microspace’s Velocity satellite service.
The agreement will allow Microspace to deliver content and “rich media” via satellite to stations broadcasting in HD Radio technology. Velocity said it delivers business music to more than 100 million people daily.
The partnership between Ibiquity and Microspace is designed to offer content providers a means for distributing content to stations for real-time and archival insertion within their HD Radio broadcasts.
“This agreement will be especially important as we prepare to roll out second-generation data services such as on-demand news, traffic and weather as well as expanded informational listings featuring text and rich media dynamically synchronized with the audio programming,” stated Joe D’Angelo, director, wireless data, Ibiquity Digital.
