Mike Schweizer Dies

Assistant chief at KUSF passed away June 14

Mike Schweizer died this month, according to a column on the Radio Survivor blog.

He had been with San Francisco station KUSF almost since its inception in 1977. He had both in-front and behind-the-mic duties, and was its assistant chief engineer. He was 58.

On the blog, Jennifer Waits writes a tribute and shares an interview with Elizabeth Schweizer, along with some pictures.

She recounts that Schweizer was a familiar face throughout Bay Area radio circles, especially working remote broadcasts for numerous stations. He also maintained an extensive local aircheck and memorabilia collection. He was nominated recently for the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame. Elizabeth worked at KUSF as well.


CEA’s Upson Dies at 49

Twice magazine reported that Cynthia Saraniti Upson, a long-time employee and consultant to the Consumer Electronics Association, passed away Feb. 17 following a battle with lung cancer. She was 49.
