Milwaukee Stations Change Hands

U. of Missouri acquires station from Stephens College

From the station sales desk …

Magnum Communications of Tomah, Wis., has acquired four Milwaukee market stations, WBKV(AM), WRJN(AM), WBWI(FM) and WEZY(FM) from Bliss Communications. The sale price was $2,250,000.

The broker was Bob Heymann of Media Services Group.

In Missouri, the University of Missouri, Columbia, Mo., announced that it has acquired the license for KWWC(FM), formerly with Stephens College, also of Columbia. The school said the station would use a full-time classical music format.

Stephens will move KWWC to the Internet.

According to the Missourian, negotiations lasted for several years. The final terms included a $50,000 payout and $50,000 worth of promotional PSAs for Stephens from the university. Stephens is the second oldest remaining female-only college in the United States.
