FCC Chief of Staff Edward P. Lazarus has joined the speaker lineup for the upcoming Minority Media & Telecom Council’s Access to Capital and Telecom Policy Conference, July 21–22 in Washington.
Lazarus will address telecom policy and entrepreneurship. He is chief of staff to FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski.
Prior to his FCC post, Lazarus worked for law firm Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, where he was co-head of the global litigation practice and a member of the firm’s management committee, overseeing 800 lawyers. He is a former prosecutor and law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Harry A. Blackmun.
At the event he will join FCC Commissioner Robert McDowell; Lew Dickey, president/CEO of Cumulus Media; Bret Perkins, Comcast VP for external and government affairs; and Joseph Waz, retired senior vice president of Comcast.
Also speaking will be telecom industry and technology executives Tom Tauke, senior vice president for public policy and external affairs at Verizon; James W. Ciccioni, senior executive vice president, external and legislative affairs for AT&T; Walter McCormick, U.S. Telecom – The Broadband Association; and Dean Garfield, president and CEO of the Information Technology Industry Council. Radio One Chairman Cathy Hughes is scheduled to appear via video.
