More Time Allowed on ADI Petition

Alert Devices International Corporation, one of three companies asking the FCC for permission to sell an alert device for the car radio, gets an extension to file comments with the commission. ADiCorp filed a Petition for Rulemaking seeking to make changes to Parts 2 and 90 of the commission’s rules to permit use of an Emergency Vehicle Signaling Service.
ADI wants to use a low power transmitter to signal cars on the AM and FM bands when an emergency vehicle needs to get by. ADI says the device would save lives, while NAB opposes blocking someone’s radio audio to accomplish the alert.
Originally, comments on the ADI petition (RM-10836) were due Feb. 12. That timetable has been extended until March 31.
