“Upbeat, dance-oriented and energetic” will be the mood on “Pride Radio,” a format targeting the gay community launched on an HD2 channel by Clear Channel in Chicago.
The Chicago Sun-Times newspaper reports that the format replaces the Spanish-language “Kiss Espanol Rhythmic” on the multicast of WKSC(FM).
Core artists include Madonna, Cher, Pink and Beyonce. The newspaper said the format is billed as the first in a major market. It quoted regional programming VP Darren Davis as saying the Chicagoland area “is home to one of America’s largest gay populations.”
