A program heard on a multicast station in Detroit has been honored by a local publication.

Greater Media’s Riff 2, a multicast “side channel” of WRIF(FM), was named “Best Local Radio Show” for its “Detroit Local 101” program by Real Detroit Weekly.

PD Mark Pennington called the award “a really big deal for Riff 2, especially since the station is still relatively new and still not available through conventional FM radio channels.” He said he hoped this would draw attention to HD Radio as well.

The two-hour show crosses genres, including hip-hop, indie rock, country and other formats. It airs Tuesday nights and is also heard online.
