Music for the ‘O Brother’ Generation

Music for the 'O Brother' Generation

Music from the backwoods is popular these days, thanks in part to the movie “O Brother, Where Art Thou?”
One program that is benefiting from this recent interest is the “WoodSongs Old-Time Radio Hour,” a syndicated, live-audience weekly radio show of acoustic, grassroots music.
It was created three years ago by folksinger Michael Johnathon and is broadcast from the Kentucky Theater in Lexington. It claims 200 affiliates in 14 countries. A “best-of” CD is getting airplay on other stations.
The show is cybercast and has been featured recently in Bluegrass Unlimited and Southern Living magazines. Stations can hear samples at www.woodsongs.com.
