NAB Again Supports 35% TV Audience Cap

The NAB board also decided to support a stand-alone 35% TV audience cap. NAB originally supported returning the cap to 35% – the FCC had raised it to 45% – but withdrew its support when amendments it considered “anti-broadcast” were attached to the measure. NAB now believes a 35%-only bill now has a better chance of passage; the House passed such a measure last week.
NAB’s flip-flopping on the measure caused some dissention among TV board members. One result was the board passed a unanimous vote of confidence in Eddie Fritts as president/CEO of the NAB.
