NAB president/CEO Eddie Fritts says the LPFM bill introduced Thursday by Sens. John McCain, R-Ariz. and Bob Kerrey, D-Neb. should be renamed the “Interference Assurance Act.”
“If these Senators listened to their constituents, they would know that the FCC can’t handle the interference already out there, let along the new interference that hundreds or thousands of new LPFM stations will cause,” said Fritts.
NAB believes further testing should be conducted before interference standards are changed.
The FCC has said it’s OK to eliminate 3rd-adjacent protection channels to LPFM stations in order to fit more on the FM band.
