Publish date:

On its blog, the NAB has posted a series of videos highlighting the role of local broadcasters during natural disasters.

Vice President of Communications Ann Marie Cumming posted the most recent video, which features the first responders efforts of radio and TV broadcasters during the devastation and aftermath of the tornado in Moore, Okla.

The six-minute clip illustrates ways in which broadcasters effectively disseminated information prior to, during and after the tornado. It also features TV and radio personalities speaking about their role during the disaster.

NABA Salutes Eddie Fritts

NABA cited Fritts’ role as a catalyst for the 1996 Telecommunications Act; his efforts to modernize and expand the NAB; passage of the 1992 Cable Act; passage of legislation that “rolled back an FCC low-power FM initiative;” elimination of the Fairness Doctrine, and passage of legislation allowing satellite companies to deliver local TV stations.
