NAB says its petition to have the FCC declare digital satellite radio a national-only service is not “unlawful censorship” as opponents believe. “The petition requests that the commission require SDARS licensees to adhere to the limitations that they themselves proposed,” states NAB in reply comments to the agency. NAB is worried about XM’s ability to provide local advertising in its next generation of receivers coming out in the fall. Satcasters XM and Sirius say more than 25,000 comments have been filed opposing the petition.
