One of the designers of the broadcast facility on the World Trade Center will present a visual history of the huge antenna system at the upcoming spring NAB2002 convention.
Dr. Oded Bendov will speak at the opening of the Broadcast Engineering Conference on April 7 in Las Vegas.
The main transmission facility for many New York City broadcasters, the master antenna was taller than a football field and home to four radio stations and 14 TV stations before being destroyed in the terrorism of Sept. 11. Six broadcast employees working there lost their lives.
Also on April 7, the head of the New York/New Jersey Broadcasters’ Coalition, Dr. William Baker, will discuss the challenges of replacing the World Trade Center technical facilities and progress on the project. Broadcasters have organized the coalition in order to find a long-term solution to replace the lost facilities.
