NAB Sneak Peek: GatesAir Looks to IP

New hardware, software and training

Broadcast infrastructure and transmitter specialist GatesAir is looking at IP for the NAB Show.

New to the show is the VMXpress IP, an audio over IP gateway for GatesAir networked consoles. It is fully compatible with Ravenna- and AES67-compatible devices. It can also work with other GatesAir IP-compatible devices such as Intraplex IP Link codecs.

In addition, the company will show the Intraplex LiveLook, real-time interactive monitoring for GatesAir IP Link codecs. LiveLook offers time-based graphical analysis of network statistics. The company says that detailed network visibility helps broadcasters measure burst packets and performance-related measurements that affect IP signal transport, with built-in data mining algorithms to automate packet analysis, all while highlighting optimal error mitigation techniques.

The IP Link codecs will also see software enhancements that include dynamic jitter buffer adjustment for improved transport reliability for network connections by varying, continually measuring and adjusting network jitter to eliminate audio packet drops and minimize playout delay.

Lastly, GatesAir has announced its first GatesAir Connect training event at the show. The company describes the event: “The series is focused on connecting people and technology, and gives GatesAir customers the opportunity to engage with company technologists and the greater service organization, as well as industry peers.” It will take place April 12, 3–7 p.m. at the Westgate Ballroom F.
