NAB Sneak Peek: Sonnet Brings the Thunderbolt

Interfaces lead the way for computer products

Computer products specialist Sonnet Technologies is bringing a large number of computers, computer interface products and peripherals to the NAB Show.

Thunderbolt interfaces will be a strong theme. The company will show Thunderbolt interfaces for USB 3.0, Gigabit Ethernet, eSATA, PCI Express expansion peripherals, card readers and multiformat docks along with desktop and rackmount computers with native Thunderbolt 2 interfaces.

Sonnet will also have on hand new members of its xMac line of Mac computers. There will be an Avid-certified xMac Pro Server (shown) and an xMac mini Server. Both are rackmounted and offer Thunderbolt 2 interfaces.

In addition the company will show its Tempo solid-state drives. These are PCIe models but can be used in Sonnet’s PCIe to Thunderbolt conversion chassis.

Sonnet Technologies Vice President of Sales and Marketing Greg LaPorte explained, “Thunderbolt technology continues to be a powerful enabler of high-performance device and display connectivity, especially now that many more computers come equipped with at least one Thunderbolt 2 port.”
