NAB Supports TV Cap Compromise

NAB Supports TV Cap Compromise

NAB supports the compromise reached earlier this week on the TV audience cap between Senate Republican leaders and the White House.
In a prepared statement from NAB President/CEO Eddie Fritts, he said, “The NAB supports the compromise 39 percent national television ownership cap. While a 35 percent cap would have been preferable, we recognize the political realities surrounding this issue.”
Senate Democratic leaders who opposed relaxing media ownership rules said they were shut out of the process and not a part of the announced compromise.
The provision is contained in an end-of-year spending bill to provide FY 2005 funding for several federal agencies. The House intends to vote on the measure in early December while the Senate’s plans are not set.
