Remember the hue and cry from NAB when the satellite radio companies announced at CES they plan to do regional traffic and weather? The NAB Radio Board directed the staff to “seek an explanation” on whether the satcaster’s plans violate their FCC authorizations for providing a national program service. Both XM and Sirius say their plans do not violate those authorizations, because they’re both planning to send the traffic and weather information nationwide as part of their service.
