NAB Tweaks Radio Show Plans

NAB Tweaks Radio Show Plans

Plans for the fall Radio Show in Philly are shaping up. The NAB said it has 57 companies committed to exhibiting so far.
The fall show has been a topic of concern for NAB due to declining attendance, and its board of directors this past winter instructed the staff to consider new approaches. The booth count also has declined; approximately 112 companies exhibited at the 2002 fall show, about 160 the year before.
“The newly revamped exhibit floor will focus on radio promotions, sales, programming, management, technology and engineering,” NAB said. “The floor, which has been branded as the ‘Radio Exchange,’ will be located in the Grand Hall of the Pennsylvania Convention Center” between the session rooms of the Pennsylvania Convention Center and the headquarter hotel, the Philadelphia Marriott.
The conference will include educational sessions on a separate floor.
NAB Senior Vice President of Conventions and Expositions Chris Brown, said the association has refocused the exhibit floor “to reflect the reasons our attendees come to the show.”
Organizers also are hoping that regional visitors will be attracted. It is the first NAB convention in the Northeast in some time. The convention is Oct. 1-3 in Philadelphia.
