NAB Weekend Underway

The NAB2007 show gets underway in the next few days in Vegas. But while non-technical folks are unpacking and buzzing about Don Imus, many engineers already will be well underway with their show duties, focused on other topics.

The NAB2007 show gets underway in the next few days in Vegas. But while non-technical folks are unpacking and buzzing about Don Imus, many engineers already will be well underway with their show duties, focused on other topics.

Highlights of a busy weekend on the technical side include a public radio engineers’ meeting already in progress; Saturday’s SBE Ennes Workshop and seminars by V-Soft and Broadcast Electronics; and Sunday’s SBE board meeting and Logitek User Group Meeting.

The National Radio Systems Committee will meet this weekend preceded by its AMB and DRB Subcommittees. The Broadcast Engineering Conference Opening Keynote will be delivered by Hirokazu Nishiyama, managing director of NHK, talking about new services such as mobile, HDTV, IPTV and VOD. And major radio groups plan their own engineering department meetings including Clear Channel and Cumulus.

The convention floor opens Monday.
