At its annual Service to America Summit on June 9, the NAB Education Foundation will award First Lady Laura Bush with the Service to America Leadership Award for her creation of early reading and education programs.
NABEF’s Leadership Award is based on leadership in community service and recognizes an individual or organization not necessarily involved in broadcasting.
Bush’s goal of promoting education and literacy among the youth has spawned, among other things, the launch of Ready to Read, Ready to Learn, a program urging parents to read with their children. NABEF conducts research and education projects related to the future of the broadcasting industry.
