NABOB asks Congress to Probe PPM

In addition to asking lawmakers to support reinstatement of a minority tax certificate, NABOB Executive Director Jim Winston is asking Congress to investigate the Arbitron Portable People Meter.

The PPM appears to underestimate minorities, Winston said, and he characterized PPM as a more “sinister threat” to minority ownership than the chairman’s proposed relaxation of the ownership rules.

“Arbitron is committed to transparency,” SVP Press/Investor Relations Thom Mocarsky told Radio World. “We welcome any opportunity to demonstrate the value PPM brings to the radio industry and to highlight our commitment to inclusive and representative samples among all groups.”
