NAB’s Matheny to Keynote SBE Dinner

Event is part of SBE national convention in Verona, N.Y.

Sam Matheny recently came on the job as NAB’s new executive vice president and chief technology officer and he’s already in demand as a speaker.

At the organization, Matheny leads the technology team in its efforts to promote innovation in the industry and propel broadcast technology into the future. He also provides overall leadership for NAB Labs activities, including oversight of NAB Labs’ Radio and TV Technology Committees.

Matheny will keynote the SBE national awards dinner on Oct. 8. The dinner is the highlight event of the 2014 50th anniversary SBE national meeting, being held in conjunction with the SBE Chapter 22 Broadcast & Technology Expo in Verona, N.Y.

At the awards dinner, the SBE will recognize member James Dalke, CPBE, 8-VSB, AMD, CBNT of Seattle, Wash., with the Robert L. Flanders SBE Engineer of the Year Award and, member Norman Portillo, CBT, of Baltimore with the James C. Wulliman Educator of the Year Award. Charter Member, Gino Ricciardelli, CPBE of Binghamton, N.Y., will be named an SBE Fellow.

The SBE events are being held at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, N.Y. The free expo includes technical sessions for broadcast engineers and production professionals.
