Napster to Comply, Fight

Napster CEO Hank Berry says his company will comply with a judge’s ruling to stop the trading of copyrighted material, but will continue to fight the ruling.
A federal judge in San Francisco said on Wednesday the user-to-user MP3 software maker is violating copyright laws by allowing users to trade music on the Internet without compensating copyright holders. U.S. District Judge Marilyn Hall Patel said Napster must block access to copyrighted material by midnight Friday PT.
The ruling is a victory for the record industry. Wednesday’s hearing was part of a lawsuit the Recording Industry Association of America filed against Napster earlier this year.
