As the Aug. 31 annual membership application/renewal deadline for the National Association of Tower Erectors’ STAR Initiative program approaches, NATE is previewing one of the new features that program members will be able to access, the NATE STAR Initiative app.
The NATE STAR Initiative app is designed for tower technicians, foremen and other tower site personnel, allowing users to access and fill out the Site Safety Audit Form from any device. Then it saves the completed form to a central database.
“The STAR Initiative app will allow workers to utilize their personal smartphones and tablets as a valuable safety resource to help them perform quality work in a safe manner,” said Todd Schlekeway. “[The app] will be a primary way for users to submit their respective audit information utilizing a touchscreen/quick type format that is conducive to collecting and documenting vital tower site data in real-time.”
Currently in the final stages of beta testing, the STAR Initiative app will be available for STAR Initiative program participants and other industry members for free on iOS and Android devices starting in mid-September. The new STAR Initiative program year begins on Oct. 1.
