National Amber Signed Into Law

President George W. Bush signed the National Amber Alert bill into law Wednesday at a ceremony in the Rose Garden of the White House.
The bill creates a nationwide program to help find abducted children. This is in addition to what stations have been doing, interlacing Amber Alerts within the Emergency Alert System.
NAB President/CEO Eddie Fritts was on hand, as well the families of Amber Hagerman, after whom the program was named, and Elizabeth Smart, the Utah girl who was recently recovered after being missing for more than a year.
Local radio and TV stations have worked with law enforcement authorities and enacted similar programs. To date, more than 50 abducted children have been recovered nationwide as a result of Amber Alerts.
