NBC Olympics Selects Lawo VSM

Will use the Control System for its production of 2016 Olympic Games in Rio

NBC Olympics, a division of the NBC Sports Group, has selected the Lawo VSM (Virtual Studio Manager) broadcast control and monitoring solution for its production of the Olympic Games, which take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Aug. 5–21. The production will also utilize the company’s IP Commentary System.

According to Lawo, the VSM and its IP Commentary System, will be used at both the NBC Olympics production compound within the International Broadcast Center in Rio, and for the NBC Olympics’ studios in Stamford, Conn. VSM will be the overall control system for NBC Olympics’ core routing and tally management, connecting to multiple third party devices on an IP backbone, the company added.

The broadcaster will also deploy a Lawo AoIP Commentary System along with Lawo V_pro8 video processors and Lawo’s V__remote4 units for the event.
