Net Radio Audience Grows

With familiar brands of terrestrial radio temporarily off-line following the American Federation of Television and Radio Actors notice that it was entitled to triple rates for radio commercials streamed onto the Internet, Net radio listeners have tried out other available channels.
According to MeasureCast, Internet radio listening increased 2.4 percent the last week of April, recovering some of the upward momentum that the medium displayed in recent months. Since January, MeasureCast has reported a 35 percent increase in the total number of hours streamed by on-line broadcasters, which the company stated, is a representation of the trend in total time spent listening.
Immediately following the AFTRA action, Net radio listening fell 13.3 percent.
Internet-only Webcasters stepped up to hold 14 of the top 25 spots in the end of April ratings, a move up from just 5 in the top 25 on April 1st.
