The number of monthly Internet radio listeners has jumped 26% in the past year, according to Bridge Ratings & Research.
It says the total now is 72 million monthly listeners.
“In 2005, weekly Internet radio listening was at 15% of the U.S. population 12 and over,” it stated. “This new study shows that as of January 2007 that figure increased 26% to 19% of all persons 12 and older. This translates to 57 million listening to Internet radio on a weekly basis.”
The company also said that last year, 16% of those online had listened to an AM/FM simulcast on the Internet; the recent study shows 21% having listened to an AM/FM simulcast in the last 30 days.
The most listened-to Internet radio networks, Bridge reported, are AOL’s online radio network, with 15.25 hours per week, followed by Yahoo Music, Live 365 and Clear Channel Online Music & Radio.
