Beasley Broadcast Las Vegas Vice President and Market Manager Tom Humm was honored as the recipient of the 2013 Nevada Broadcasters Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

He was recognized at the 18th Annual NBA Hall of Fame Gala, held Aug. 17, at the Red Rock Resort, Casino and Spa.

As Las Vegas Market Manager, Humm oversees four radio stations: NewsTalk 720 KDWN(AM), 96.3 KKLZ(FM) Greatest Hits, 102.7 The Coyote KCYE(FM) and The Oasis KOAS(FM), in addition to overseeing BOB FM 107.9 KVGS(FM), which is managed by Beasley and owned by GGB Las Vegas.

Humm was key in the formation and professionalization of the association and has served as a member of the association’s board of directors for over 20 years, a release said. This year he celebrates his 35th year as a Nevada broadcaster.

His radio career began in 1978 when he was hired by KLUC(FM), Las Vegas, as an account executive. He was promoted to local sales manager in 1981. In 1984, he was hired by Parker Communications as general manager of KXTZ(FM), San Luis Obispo, Calif., a position he held until 1991 at which time he departed to become general manager of KEYV(FM)/KFMS(AM), Las Vegas.

Humm returned to KLUC as general manager in 1993 under Nationwide Communications. The company ultimately sold its radio properties to American Radio Systems, thus he inherited general manager duties of KLUC, KVEG (now KXNT[FM]) and KXNO (now KXST[AM]). In 1998, CBS acquired American Radio System’s six Las Vegas radio properties, transferring Humm to general manager of KMZQ(AM)/KMXB(FM) and market manager of the six radio stations. In 2008, he left CBS to become vice president and market manager for Beasley Broadcast Las Vegas.

“Tom is a tremendous manager. He leads by example, instilling loyalty and inspiring excellence in those with whom he works,” said Beasley Vice-President of Operations Brian Beasley.

Humm said he was proud to have served the Las Vegas community throughout his career, and he is also glad to have helped to provide over $50 million dollars in public service announcements and appearances for charitable and youth organizations.

He added that he is also a staunch advocate of building the future of broadcasting by hiring young adults.
