New Enforcement Bureau Chief Named

Michele Ellison is promoted

Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski has been piecing together his leaders in the commission; this week he promoted from within the agency to direct the Enforcement Bureau.

Genachowski appointed P. Michele Ellison as chief of the Enforcement Bureau; she begins her new position Sept. 28.

Ellison is deputy general counsel at the commission, a position she has held for the last 12 years, and most recently served as acting general counsel of the FCC through July 2009. Ellison was also named as transition counsel to Commissioner Mignon Clyburn.

Ellison co-chaired the commission’s localism task force, led a task force on expanding communications opportunities to small businesses and developing countries, and was a senior advisor to former Chairman Bill Kennard.
