XM Canada is getting a new leader in the new year.
Canadian Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. appointed Michael Moskowitz as the company’s new president and chief executive officer, effective Jan. 1.
Chairman and former CEO John Bitove will continue with a new title of executive chairman of Canadian Satellite Radio Holdings Inc.
Bitove said Moskowitz was the best fit because of his background in the Canadian communications technology industry. “He has a strong background in management, particularly operations, marketing, sales, distribution and finance.”
XM Canada reported this week it has 306,000 subscribers and is targeting 1 million in 2010.
Moskowitz is former president of Americas International of Palm Inc., which encompasses Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean. He also worked at several consumer electronics product companies.
Donald McKenzie, who has served as acting president and chief operating officer since June, will return to his position as XM Canada’s senior vice president of sales and marketing.
